Hair Care Discussed by Dr Nita Goswami at Nobesity Support Group Meeting #20

Hair Care Discussed by Dr Nita Goswami at Nobesity

You went through bariatric surgery and started off on your weight loss process. But there is one loss a few of you did not bargain for – hair loss.

Dr Khaitan and Dr Nita answering patient questions

The surgery and the weight loss results in some hormonal changes, contributing to temporary hair loss in the immediate months after surgery.  Some patients may also notice that their hair begins to thin or its texture becomes coarse.

Not to worry! This hair loss is temporary and not something to lose (more!) hair over.

At the same time, certain steps can be taken to minimize the hair loss.

The focus of our 20th Monthly Support Group Meeting held last Sunday was exactly this- Post surgery Hair care.

Dr Nita discussing maitaining healthy hair

Guest Speaker Dr Nita Goswami stressed on the importance of nutrient rich foods and the necessary supplements in minimizing hair loss after surgery. For the patients at the meeting, it was an excellent opportunity to learn how they could protect their crowning glory after surgery.

In her thirty plus years of practice, Dr. Goswami has treated over 1 lakh patients and has won awards for the in-depth research behind the development of her products. She was conferred with an award for Excellence in Ayurvedic Medicine by UNO.

Housefull Audience

The program ended with a lively interaction between the audience, Dr Nita and Dr Manish Khaitan on various points contributing to lasting health and maintained healthy weight after Bariatric Surgery.

Remember: It has been proven by studies that patients who attend support group meetings are able to stick to their post-surgery regime and ensure sustained loss. The support group meetings at Nobesity are held once every month, usually on last Sunday of the month. They are free of charge and open to both our patients as well as patients of other surgeons.
